Common questions
Does a board that keeps tripping always need replacing?
No. Tripping can come from a single faulty appliance, a damp outdoor circuit or an overloaded circuit. Find the cause first; replace the board when it is old, undersized, lacks RCD protection or cannot take new circuits.
What is the difference between a breaker and an RCD?
A circuit breaker (disjuntor) protects one circuit against overload and short circuits. An RCD (diferencial) switches off when current leaks to earth, which is what protects people from electric shock. A modern board uses both.
